Bundy Rum Bundy Belle -its Bundaberg Qld

It definitely was a mammoth trip but going to Bundaberg was worth it, I still can’t believe they named a town after my favourite drink but hey moving on…

Heres a few pictures such as The Bundy Belle Tour, The Rum Factory hmmm yumm and the other Bundy drink factory !! Oh and click on the photos to bring up a larger one 🙂

Now even tho we had 150mm rain most days it was still definitely worth the trip and one that I would like to do again and one that I would recommend also.   Nice town and nice people!

Now we had sun (a rarity) for the Bundy Belle trip which went from Bundaberg right out to the where the river meets the ocean and then back again – a 3hr cruise and thankfully not a Gilligans Island 3hr cruise 🙂

Now the Bundy Rum factory was well… heaven and I didn’t want to leave… We went on a coach trip there and back and me thinks that was a very wise decision!! – loved the free samples oh and click on the photos if you want to see a larger version 🙂

Of course if in Bundaberg you also have to visit the Bundaberg Brewing Company that makes Ginger Beer plus a host of others… my favourite is Sarsaparilla oh and by the way if you mix it with rum its called Smooth & Shifty no jokes… Smooth & Shifty is a unique blend of the ultra-smooth Bundaberg Red Rum and brewed Sarsparilla from Bundaberg Brewed Drinks – yes you can buy it in 500ml bottles!!! from Dan Murphys

The trip back was interesting… with so much rain, we headed out to Gin Gin only to be turned towards Childers as they were getting close to evacuating the town because of flooding.   We ended staying a couple of nights at the Childers Tourist Park & Camp which enabled us to wash and dry our clothes and dry out ourselves.   We also ended up staying the night in Yamba as close as possible to the water tho with the wind and rain we didn’t sleep much 🙁 I think we would’ve been better off on Billy’s prawn trawler – it didn’t move.  Oh and the water was as close on the other side.

On the last leg we ended up staying for a few nights out at the Trial Bay Gaol Campground in the National Park at South West Rocks.   It is a lovely place to stay with great views of whales breaching, kangaroos coming up to the motorhome and generally just a nice place to relax.

On a sad note, the weekend after we got back I went on a ride with my brothers and one of us didn’t make it back – RIP Wayne Barry Hyland aka Wayneo 22 Jan 1969 – 29 Oct 2017.   Taken too soon only 48years young and now riding in the wind forever.

And to Pedro from the God Squad, thinking of you mate for the loss of one of yours near Kyneton Victoria.   Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday.   Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed and always dear.

Anyway I have rambled on for too long, hey if you see me out on the road say gday or hit me up on UHF Channel 40

Till next time, take care, yours in country music – Leigh
