Now earlier I did say probably the last one as Steve Langley will be retiring after this one. Something I know has been on the cards for a while but something that I still find a little sad. I guess because Steve is family and I know, that it has been his life for so long and it is a decision that he has not made lightly but as family we are behind what ever he decides as long as he is happy.
Now Steve Langley is a legend and I don’t say that just because he is family but because he is! He has ridden the Great Divide, ridden the Grand Canyon in the USA, started the now infamous Pub Crawls on Horseback, taken people on week long trail rides covering hundreds of kilometres and more, a lot more in fact he and R. M. Williams could be related.
If you speak to the man he can and will amaze you with his stories and his no-nonsense salt of the soil attitude, yet the one thing that will come shining through is his love for horses the land and his honesty – something that he has passed down to his son Mark who by the way is like a horse whisperer (something you have to see to believe). Mark Langley runs a business called Equine Ability – the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree.
Steve on the right, his niece Debbie in the middle and his partner Kerry.
Like I said Steve is larger than life and he is a legend but I guess more than that, I consider him to be a friend and a mate. I will be going to this one with a bit of sadness but also with a smile as I get to spend time out in the bush, around horses and around family and friends AND… I get to sing and play country music what a pearler!
