Where do you start, December 16th should be about ‘9 days to go until Christmas’ a joyous occasion, but this year it not. Debs father passed away on the 8th and the funeral was today.
I know it is hard having lost my own father but I still cannot fully feel what Debbie is going through other than I know she’s hurting a lot and all I can be is there for her when or if she needs me.
Noel was good man who always made you feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. He loved his Horse Racing, loved fishing and genuinely loved life.
He was also sad in that there was a long period where he didn’t get to see Deb and always apologised for not being there – alas this happens in marriage breakups.
Deb spent the last few weeks basically driving from home to Gosford Hospital and later Wyong Hospital spending the day with dad and then driving home.
Noel would ask Deb to take him outside so that he could have one last beer; the nurses won’t know he would say.
Sadly Noel Lawless passed away on the 8th December, he was 81; he would have been 82 later this month on the 21st December.
To Debbie, your brothers Noel and Matt I am so sorry for your loss. To Noel RIP mate at least you’re not in any more pain.
As I mentioned earlier, he loved his Horse Racing – so his coffin had Horse Racing on the sides, a fitting tribute.
Anyway I have rambled on for too long, hey if you see me out on the road say gday or hit me up on UHF Channel 40
Till next time, take care, yours in country music – Leigh
